Aether Energy launches Battery as a Service with monthly payment plan

Bengaluru-based Ather Energy has split the purchase of an electric scooter with that of its battery, so that customers can pay upfront for the scooter (and separately for battery through a monthly plan).

The battery usage cost starts at ₹1 per kilometer under a 48-month plan, with a minimum of 1,000 km per month. Customers get to choose plans that recover the battery cost over three to four years. The financing is offered through partner banks and non banks.

Customers have also been offered one year of free fast charging at Ather’s network of 3,300 chargers across India.
