NeuEn Green Energy to develop green hydrogen facility at Numaligarh refinery

NeuEN Green Energy has secured a contract to supply 10,000 tonnes per annum (10KTPA) of green hydrogen to Numaligarh Refinery.

The company is a 50:50 joint venture between Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries.

“The project has achieved the most competitive rate discovered till date, marking a significant milestone in the commercial viability of green hydrogen in India,” BPCL said in a press release.

Under the contract, the joint venture will develop a 10KTPA green hydrogen production facility at Numaligarh’s refinery in Assam, supported by a long-term offtake arrangement. The electricity equivalent could power more than 300,000 homes per year, or more than 500 barrels per day of crude oil equivalent.

The project will begin commercial operations in 2028, and integrate renewable energy with storage solutions to enable round-the-clock operations and support refinery decarbonisation.
