JFE Engineering to invest ¥750 million in Antony Waste Handling Cell’s projects

Waste management company Antony Waste Handling Cell has announced a partnership with Japan-based JFE Engineering Corporation for two Waste to Energy plants in Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the partnership, JFE Engineering will invest approximately ¥750 million to acquire a 25 per cent equity stake in two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) owned by Anthony Waste. The investment is being made into the SPVs developing the Kadapa and Kurnool projects in Andhra Pradesh, in which JFE Engineering India will undertake engineering, procurement and construction of the plants.

The plants are expected to handle 750 tonnes of waste per day, per plant and generate 15 MW of power per plant that will be sold under a power purchase agreement of ₹8.1 per unit. Construction of both projects are expected to be completed in 24 months, with commissioning targeted for the first quarter of financial year 2029.
